Art, Representation, and Responsibility:towards a systems aesthetic
The part of this article that I thought was the most interesting was the part about artwork and artificial intelligence (AI). These systems have been created to make machines do things that humans do. Is AI art? I think it is. The idea that systems have the intelligence and structure to perform human tasks is more than art.
Artificial Intelligence can have different levels of intelligence and can also represent the production of intelligent responses. The fact that a computer program can solve problems and observe behaviors is mind boggling. As humans, we have our own way of thinking and solving/calculating problems. These AI computer systems now have their own way of doing the same things, and it may even be done better. According to the article, hardware and software agents are now programmed to “experience” and interact with their environment. What does that even mean? Are we going to get to a point in technology where AI systems start interacting with the human world? It is kind of a scary thought. Technology grows faster and more advanced every day, it probably won’t take long before humans and machines are living together in the same universe.
Art, Representation, and Responsibility
The one thing in this article that really grabbed my attention was the part about Artificial Intelligence (AI) and art.
Artificial Intelligence is the creating of systems to do things that humans can do. This aspect is very interesting to me because it just shows how far technology has come. The fact that computer systems can be created to observe and respond to human actions and also to solve/calculate problems is truly amazing. Artificial Intellignce also has different levels of intelligence and can carry out different types of mechanisms. The article also states that within the last two decades, researchers have developed systems where hardware and software agents are now programmed to “experience” and interact with their environment. This point is mind boggling to me. Is AI going to eventually start intereacting with humans in the human world? Are these programs going to become so advanced that they will be able to carry out most human tasks? I am not sure, but I do know that technology grows and becomes more advanced everyday. So I would not be surprised if we ever got to that point. There is probably so much research on AI that it is only a matter of time before a technological breakthrough arrives.
